Resumen

The study examined the academic literature on self-esteem and social skills in university students, using rigorous selection and analysis criteria. A systematic review was conducted of articles published during the last decade that explored these specific topics, excluding research focused on other educational levels. The results highlight that the year 2021 was the most frequent year for publications on self-esteem and social skills in university students, with Peru being the country that made the most contributions in this field. Among the instruments used, the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale predominated in the studies on self-esteem, while Elena Gismero's Social Skills Inventory was the most used to assess social skills. In conclusion, it is recommended to increase experimental and longitudinal research, develop specific measurement instruments, and foster international collaboration to enrich the understanding of self-esteem and social skills in university contexts, thus promoting the emotional and academic well-being of students.
